OpEx for Education Training and Accreditation
What is OpEx for Education?
Operational Excellence is an industry-tried and tested methodology that involves the application of specialist skills and techniques. Therefore, each of the modules from Associate to Strategic practitioner builds incremental knowledge and must be completed in turn. Each module acts as the gateway to the next.
The Strategic [highest] Level provides an ideal practice benchmark for those aspiring to OpEx-related roles operating at the C-suite level or equivalent. The Lead and Associate Level, on their own, may be sufficient for more operational focused roles and leaders.

About the
Training
-
OpEx for Education has been developed to deal with the resource challenges faced by the sector and is in line with Department for Education and Treasury thinking in relation to efficiencies, new technologies and policy direction.
ISBL has invested in sector-specific research and published a contextualised framework for schools and trusts. ISBL has refined its approach with consultation and an extensive pilot project to bring you educationally contextualised training to aid you in applying OpEx tools and techniques.
All of our existing (and future) programmes symbiotically and holistically support each other in helping your organisation (whether a school or trust) become operationally excellent AND support you and your colleagues on professional pathways to become operationally efficient.
-
All training is delivered face to face in specific locations (see booking dates below for specific venues). As detailed above:
Associate Level training is one day (with six weeks to evidence impact following the training).
Lead Level is an additional two days, following completion of the Associate Level training (with 8–12 weeks to evidence impact following the training).
Strategic Level is an additional two days, following completion of both the Associate and Lead Level training (with six weeks to evidence impact following the training.
-
This training is suitable for SBPs, CFOs, COOs and/or those who work in operations in a school or across a trust central team.
Generally, training levels are suitable for:
Associate – Those supporting and implementing processes.
Lead – Those leading operational processes and change across a school or trust.
Strategic – Those who have strategic oversight of operational processes, procedures and programmes, and develop teams across a number of schools, a trust or more widely.
-
You can gain formal accreditation at each level of the programme. On completion of the training, you will be required to evidence how you have implemented some of the tools and techniques to solve a problem and evidence impact. This is not an overly onerous process; however, it is a prerequisite for completion before you progress to the next stage of the programme.
-
As a result of gaining accreditation, practitioners will be able to:
Associate - Identify and implement operational efficiencies internally.
Lead - Develop and lead others in OpEx activities across a school or trust.
Strategic - Develop and lead others (including strategic leaders) in OpEx activities across a group of schools or trusts or more widely as an ISBL approved consultant.
